Joanna Lumley and the Gurkhas

Lumley’s 2009 visit to Nepal was supposed to be a private visit. Unknown to many Joanna Lumley became famous during her visit to Nepal. At first her visit to Nepal was regarded as a low profile visit, just to see the Gurkahs and their families. But when the news spread out amongst the Gurkhas and their families of her coming to Nepal. The Gurkhas and their wives and family member from various parts of Nepal came to Kathmandu International Airport to meet and greet her. Media was made aware of this so the all sorts of journos turned up at the scene for the reporting. Ms Lumley, the little known British actress was suddenly a celebrity, she earned her popularity quicker and easier by campaining for the Gurkahs then being a television actress all her life.
She was met and greeted like the head of a state. She met with both the PM and President of Nepal. After 2-3 days she was supposed to arrive at Dharan at 12 noon after visiting Damak. But they were late by 3-4 hours. She and her team arrived only at around 4-5pm. We waited for her for hours to take a photo shot of Ms. Lumley. She was flying high among the Gurkahs and their families.
johnna lumle ‘visit was actually a private visit for knowing about british gurhas familie’s status, i supposed. in my point of view, her visit was an absolutely fair and clearly . yes, this is an absolutely right that after visiting the country nepal, suddenly became the prominent person. she is an honest and kind as well.
