Federal Bureau of Investigation or most popularly known as FBI was formed in the year 1908. It had no special name for the agency or the organisation when it first began. It was simply called ‘special agent force’ later Bureau of Investigation, Division of Investigation and so on and finally in the year 1933 it was called what we know today as Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) . When it began in 1908 it had less than 70 employees with Stanley William Finch as its chief examiner or leading the department as the first director of FBI. Today it has more than 33,000 employed by the department with 13,000 field agents and 20,000 supports professional: IT professional, doctors, language specialists, intelligence analyst.
The Headquarter is in Washington DC along with other 56 offices in major cities within United States and about 400+ resident agencies in other small towns in United States. It also has more than 60 international offices outside the United States. The yearly budget of the department is nearly US $7 billion.
The main aim and mission of FBI is to protect and defend the United States against any harm or terrorist attacks both domestic and international. Protect United States against any foreign organisation and intelligences operations and espionage. Protect civil rights, combat public corruptions at all levels. Combat major crimes and violence. Protect United States against high-tech crime. Support federal, state, local and international partners to make United States a better place to live in.
