Israel is a small tiny nation in the western part of Asia, commonly known as Middle East, on the east of Mediterranean Sea. It is about 40 miles wide and 200 Miles in length, with the population of about 7 million (Jews and non-Jews). The modern Israel, the State of Israel gained independence on the 14th day of May 1948, becoming the only Jewish state in the world. It overtook American Jewish population and now, Israel has the largest Jewish population in the world.
It shares its border with Mediterranean on the west, Egypt on the south west, and Jordan on the most of the east and Syria on the east, north east and Lebanon on the north. Most of the southern part of Israel, Negev region is desert, where air force, military facilities are installed. River Jordan the border between Jordan and Israel and Sea of Galilee is the main water supply to the nation of Israel, which often sparks conflict between Israel and its neibhgours.
Majority of the population are Jewish although, Druze, Christians and Arabs do also live in Israel. Hebrew is an official language of the State of Israel and Arabic for the minority. But, English is also spoken widely as common language for communication. It is one of the most alert nations in the world as anytime without warning they can expect attack from its neighbouring foes. One day, after the declaring of Israel’s independence it was attacked by Arab forces, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. But, Israel came out victorious expanding its land control.
With David Ben Gurion as the nation’s first Prime Minister, Israel was admitted to UN in 11th day of May 1949. Since, the formation of Israel, it has fought several wars with its neighbours and in all wars with its neighbours has come out victorious. Like most nations of the world Israel cannot afford single defeat, one defeat to Israel means to be wiped out from the map of the world.
Wars that Israel fought: War with Egypt over Suez Canal in 1956, popularly known as Six-Day War in 1967, when Israel made concurrent air attacks against Syrian, Jordanian and Egyptian air bases. Which only helped Israel to expand its territory and occupy Golan Heights from Syria, one of the most strategic point for Israel, an advantage point against Syria. West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, Sinai and east bank of Suez Canal, which was later, returned back to Egypt. These are some of many conflicts that Israel has been through.
In Israel military service is compulsory for Jews and Druze and optional for Christians and Arabs. 36 months for enlisted men and 21 months for enlisted women and 48 months for officers. Israel can mobilize their force within 1 hour and within given 48 hours they can mobilsed their whole nation as a nation of army. They are well trained soldiers and sometimes they could even be merciless.
In order to protect the State of Israel and promote its influence, Israel has trained many Israelis and Jewish living in Israel and abroad. Besides, the defence force, they are Mossad working round the clock, gathering, processing and executing information into action. Shin bet, the domestic intelligence organisation working round the clock. Some of the most influential Jewish are in United States, who comes from diverse background, business, finance, intelligence, entertainment, lobbyist, congress, politics, government, law makers, government advisors and the list goes on.
Israel is also one of the most advanced nations when it comes to science and technology, and modern weapons development: Invention of drones, unmanned surveillance plane, which are from couple of meters to an inch like mosquito. Israel is also good at abstracting and stealing information and technology: Stealing of Russian Mig in the early-mid 1960s from Iraq, with the help of Mossad and the flight squadron working in Iraqi Air force.
Today, Israel still survives from the attack of its foes, after 60 years of its independence and has come thus far. It is truly the thorn in the flesh amongst its hostile neighbours.
